Product description
Higonokami is the most well-known Japanese pocket knife. The knife's design is based on the katana, which is no coincidence, as the crafting of the knife is deeply rooted in samurai tradition. The knife first appeared in 1896 in response to the 19th-century reforms that prohibited the production of weapons. As a result, blacksmiths began crafting knives instead, including the small pocket-sized Higonokami. When these knives began to be produced in the cutlery hub of Miki, they quickly spread throughout Japan and the USA, where they were primarily used for sharpening pencils - one of the functions of this versatile pocket knife.
