Product description
I am a new knife maker and this a MkI version of a 7 inch D2 steel Bull Cutter pattern with a wasp waist. The handle is Acrylace (acrylic material) in grey and black. Blade is ~1/8th inch thick along the spine with no distal taper. The bevels are finished to a 220 grit scratch pattern followed by Scotch Brite belt (I am of the opinion that this is a good finish for a work knife as it will show less scratches than a mirror finish). The flats are left in the rough after heat treatment leaving a black oxide (very tough) coating on the flats. Note on heat treat, blade was coated in a saitanite/wood ash wash followed by a 30 minute soak at 1,900F followed by a slow oil quench (normally plate), cryo treatment for 2 hours in a dry ice/ethanol bath and 2 1 hour tempers at 400F. The handle is comfortable for a US size large hand (my hand in the photo and I wear an L nitrile glove). No sheath.
