The Griptilian is a true Benchmade classic and intended to be an absolute workhorse, ready to tackle any task.
This knife is a rare 551-1 variant with upgraded scales (G10, instead of the plastic material of the base Griptilian) and upgraded steel (CPM-20CV, instead of the 154CM or S30V options). The G10 scales are a beautiful gray and blue colorway, and provide an open passthrough to better keep the knife clean (instead of a closed-back handle on the standard Griptilian). Additonally, this knife comes standard with Benchmade's black oxide deep-carry pocket clip - helping keep the knife tucked away until you need it. Despite all these upgrades, the one thing that needed no changes was Benchmade's ambidextrous AXIS Lock system, giving a secure lockup and satisfying open.
With a better handle, tougher steel (known for exceptional edge retention, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance), and a more stylish appearance, this knife is an all-around upgrade on a classic.
Knife was purchased in like-new condition, and has been kept that way. Extremely limited carry and next to no signs of wear or use. Blade has the factory edge (thanks to CPM-20CV's extreme edge retention) and is very sharp, only ever cutting paper for sharpness tests.
This 551-1 variant isn't available from Benchmade any longer, so snag this unique version of a classic while you can.
