Item DescriptionUp for sale is an investment-grade collector’s piece representing the rare, early work of iconic master knifemaker R.J. Martin. Handcrafted in 1992 during his highly collectible early custom fixed-blade era, this classic drop-point hunter features stunning genuine stag bone scales with a deep, dark-burnt contrast texturing.This package is completely unpolished and unrestored, remaining exactly as it was found to preserve maximum vintage collector value.
Blade Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The original factory vertical satin grind lines remain crisp and completely undisturbed. The cutting edge bevel is smooth, straight, and entirely free of micro-chips or sharpening scratches. The tip is perfectly intact. Note: As shown in the photos, there is a small, dark aging/pepper spot on the upper portion of the blade and a couple of faint hairline scuffs near the tip, These are surface-level only and completely standard for an untouched custom steel of this 30+ years.
Handle Condition:
The genuine stag bone scales are in exceptional shape with zero hairline cracks around the hardware or pin shrinkage. The bone scales provide a tight, completely flush fit against the brushed bolsters with no gapping. Features an integrated lined lanyard hole.
Sheath Condition:
Includes the original, matching custom leather pouch sheath in 100% untouched, unconditioned original state. All heavy-duty perimeter stitching and the protective leather welt are completely intact and structurally sound. Note: There is an older , stable crack on the reverse side of the original leather sheath that goes all the way through the leather layer. It is surface visible and fully disclosed in the photos, but does not affect the sheaths tight structural pocket hold or its safe function.
