Product description
This is a petty knife made by Dan Prendergast from England. It measures 165x45mm and weighs 139g. It has wrought iron cladding with W2 carbon steel as the core steel. The wrought has tons of character and the maker put a “starter’s patina” on it, which is a beautiful rainbow color when viewed at certain angles.Handle is made out of Welsh walnut. I am the original owner and the knife has never been sharpened. It has seen very little use and is in excellent condition. I purchased the knife directly from the maker and It did not come shipped in a knife box, so I’ll ship this in a padded knife case.
Note that the profile of this knife has a pronounced belly. Accordingly, I would recommend this knife if you have a “rock chop” cutting style. If you do push/pull cutting, this knife may not be for you. See pics and video.
Here’s a more detailed description from the maker:
This general purpose was forged from high carbon W2 steel laminated between two pieces of historic wrought iron from an old wagon axle, and has a handle made from Welsh walnut. This knife combines a high degree of functionality, combined with heaps of character. Due to the natural, untreated nature of both high carbon steel, iron and the handle material, this knife will patinate and change over time. I have put a starter patina on it, which will change with use.
