Product description

LILE Handmade Knife for sale. This very nice fixed blade Lile Knife was custom ordered from the Lile Handmade Knives shop in Russellville, Arkansas. This knife was ordered from Jimmy Lile's shop around 2001 -2003. Please note that this knife was made in Mr. Lile's shop by a Master Knife Maker. This particular knife has a "dot" over the LILE logo on the blade. This means that this particular knife was NOT made by Mr. Lile but was custom ordered and hand made in his famous Russellville shop. Mr. Jimmy Lile, known as " The Arkansas Knifesmith," passed away in 1991. His shop in Russellville, Arkansas continued to produce beautiful cutlery crafted by Master Bladesmiths. The knife I am offering for sale was Custom ordered from Mr. Lile's shop around 2001-2003. This knife was purchased by my late father in law and is now offered for sale. My wife and I know that he( my father in law) special ordered the knife and it took longer to create than an ordinary catalog model. I believe that the knife was based on Mr. Lile's L1 Model sporting and backpacking knife. We believe that instead of the normal clip point blade our dad had the bladesmith build the knife with an upswept skinning blade. We believe that the steel is either D2 or 440C but we are not sure. We think the handles are wood of some variety and they fit the hand perfectly. This knife is very nice and it looks as though someone perhaps enjoyed owning and trying to sharpen it. The knife is in good condition and it shows signs of light use and resharpening. This is a very nice and clean knife that I have not been able to find in this configuration anywhere else. I believe this knife is somewhat of a rarity and a Lile collector would be fortunate to own it. So, I would like to sell this custom ordered and handmade treasure to a knowledgable collector. Please note this knife has no sheath and no original box. Please remember that this knife was created by a Master Knifemaker in Mr. Jimmy Lile's famous shop. This knife WAS NOT created by Mr. Lile, but was skillfully made by a highly regarded bladesmith. I am also going to disclose that I am not certain this is an L1 Model knife but that the handle and dimensions are very similar to the L1 model in the catalog that came with the knife. The upswept skinning blade is the most unusual part of the knife as it doesn't usually come with the normal L1 knife. If you purchase this knife it will come wrapped in a clean old cotton sock and will be carefully packed inside the box from another knife. Old original catalog will be included with this knife. Thank you for taking time to look at this great old knife!
