Product description
A 255mm honyaki gyuto made of pure tamahagane by Hiromune Takaba. A knife he rarely makes and the only one I have ever seen. This knife has been sharpened and polished by @ReiHamono. He did a full refinement of the geometry on whetstones, while maintaining the character of the original grind. He then went through a full stone polishing progression, finishing with the Sashikomi technique to bring out the steels character. It is one of the cleanest examples of tamahagane I have ever seen, and he stated the same.
The close-up photo shows pattern without the interference of oil. You can see the character flowing along the jigane. The blacksmiths signature is on the tang.
