Product description
One of the finest blacksmiths of Yoshikane Hamono, Masashi Yamamoto opened his own shop many years ago. The influence is clearly there with crazy thin grinds.
240 mm carbon gyuto in a very unique rustic ku finish with a mirror polished exposed edge. The blue 1 is heat treated very hard and paired with nail flexing edge make the knife an impressive cutter but obviously delicate.
Great distal taper to a needle tip (see pic).
Custom octagonal handle is made of applewood burl, white spacer and ebony ferrule.
Never sharpened, has still the great edge as arrived. Used little to none, shows a light blueish and orange patina.
As for balance it's definitely blade heavy.
